Why I Love: Chinese chicken soup
By Gok Wan
I struggled with my identity when I was young and denied my dad’s Asian heritage. When my grandmother came to visit from the northern territories of Hong Kong, I made myself hate the food she cooked us – the tasteless broths and dried fish. Now I’ve learnt to love all that.

You can always count on Gok giving top tips on how to dress for certain occasions, and this time he tells you how to dress for university. Read what Gok has to say below and after the jump:
University is an amazing time, you’ve got total freedom of expression. Once you go into a corporate arena, you’re going to have to look a certain way and you’ll almost have a uniform. Remember you don’t have to get it right straight away - have fun with it, play around with it.

Don’t forget to watch Gok’s Fashion Fix tonight at 8pm on Channel 4 (and on Channel 4 HD). Tonight Gok goes shopping with singer Jamelia in Birmingham, and also reveals who will be crowned Street Style Icon of the Year.
Tonight’s episode is the last in the series (noooo!!) and there is, so far, no word on whether a second series will air. Lets hope so though!
But Gok won’t be gone for long - Next Thursday (Aug 21) a brand new episode of How To Look Good Naked will air at 8pm. The episode is a special catch-up edition, where Gok revisits Lucy Govan, whose tomboy appearance he helped transform 12 months earlier.

Gok is the first celeb expert to be named to Alliance & Leicester Bank’s Premier 21 Master Class Programme which launched yesterday.
The programme has been created to support 16-21 year olds who have left full time education to kick start their careers.
Research conducted by the Bank showed that almost half of those questioned about the most desirable career for people in their age bracket, chose jobs for which no degree was necessary. In addition, one of the industries considered a great career path was fashion, a choice Gok, stylist and presenter of How to look good naked, definitely agrees with.
“It’s important that people realise that not having a degree isn’t the end of the world,” said Wan, “There are lots of options for young people to build a successful career in their industry of choice. However, if you’re young and starting to make money, it’s a good idea to start thinking about saving for the future. Nobody’s young forever.”

Gok recently spoke to The Mirror about his own body hang-ups, finding Mr. Right and needing a counselor when filming How To Look Good Naked. Gok also talks about his family, what he did prior to becoming a TV presenter, and much more. It’s a great article and you can read it all below:
He is the master of persuading self-loathing women to bare all and love their bodies – but Gok Wan’s advice comes at a price.
His magical makeovers often leave him so drained that he needs counseling himself.
The lean TV star, who once tipped the scales at 21 stone, is famed for helping ordinary women discover their inner goddess on his Channel 4 show How To Look Good Naked.
But Gok’s battle with his own body image has left him acutely aware of the emotions his subjects go through.
